Nairobi Animal Orphanage is set in Nairobi National Park with lush green vegetation contrasting against the red dust and dry clay soil. It was established in 1964 as a refuge and rehabilitation center for wild animals found abandoned or injured throughout Kenya. The unique orphanage records over 200,000 visitors every year.
Animals received at the Nairobi Animal Orphanage undergo a thorough medical examination followed by treatment if necessary, before entering into an appropriate feeding and rehabilitation program. This important educational and training facility is often home to more than 20 exotic different animals and bird species.
Wildlife: Lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, jackal, serval, very rare Sokoke cats, warthog, ostrich, various monkeys, baboon, and buffalo.
Birds: Parrot, guinea fowl, crown crane, and ostrich.
By Road: The orphanage is located only about 7 km from Nairobi and is easily accessible on tarmac roads, off Lang’ata Road, Kenya Wildlife Service headquarters.
By Air: You can access the park through the nearest airports, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Wilson Airport.
