Kidogo Nyumbani Restaurant & Lodge is set in a serene, natural ambiance ideal to enjoy a scrumptious meal and a cold drink. The restaurant does some of their best dishes on the cheap but there’s no skimping on the quality making it a favorite for visitors over the years.
The beautiful Indian Ocean and the fertile Kenyan coast provides Kidogo Nyumbani with a variety of local fresh ingredients to offer visitors a chosen diversity of delicious seafood and vegetarian dishes. Influenced by Kenyan, Indian and European cooking, you’ll find something to water your mouth and please your stomach.
If you are already in Watamu, then drive towards Gede, after you passed Timboni you will see our Kidogo Nyumbani Signboard on the left side of the road. Turn into the dirt road, drive for 100m and you find our gate on the right. Or simply ask your local boda or tuk-tuk driver to bring you to our place. If he doesn’t know Kidogo Nyumbani, so ask him to take you to Giriama Lodge, as this is how the place was known before. Or if you let us know in advance, we can organize transport for you.
The next international Airport is Mombasa International Airport (MOI), the closest national Airport is Malindi Airport. From there you could either take a taxi, choose local transport or hire a car. Then see the instructions below.
Coming from Mombasa you simply take the north coast highway (B8), towards Malindi. After a 1.5 – 2 h drive, depending on traffic, you will reach Gede. Directly after the fuel station, you turn right towards Watamu. After 5 min, before you enter Watamu/Timboni, you will see our signboard on the right side of the road. Turn right into the dirt road, drive for 100m. Enter our gate and feel at home.
Coming from Malindi, take the B8 highway towards Kilifi. After approximately 20 min you will reach Gede. Turn left before you pass the fuel station. After 5 min, before you enter Watamu/Timboni, you will see our signboard on the right side of the road. Turn right into the dirt road, drive for 100m. Enter our gate and feel at home.
There are regular Busses from either Nairobi and Mombasa to Malindi, most of them stop in Gede as well. Just confirm with the company and the conductor/driver to make sure. From either Mombasa and Malindi you will find Matatus (Minibus Taxis) to Gede or directly to Watamu. From Gede just take a local boda (motorbike taxi) or a tuk-tuk. If they don’t know Kidogo Nyumbani yet, ask the driver to bring you to Giriama Lodge, that’s how our place was known before. Or if you let us know in advance, we can organize transport for you from Gede or Malindi to our place.
