Embu town is a major trading centre located 120 km northeast of Nairobi. It lies on the south-eastern slopes of Mount Kenya, making it an ideal location for rice cultivation and fruit farming. The town is home to the indigenous Aembu people, Mbeere, Kamba, and Kikuyu. A single visit to Embu is not enough to experience all of the attractions: rice farms, the Seven Forks Dams in the Upper Tana River Basin.
